Position Overview: The Director of Land Acquisition will oversee the land acquisition team and ensure that land deals in the pipeline move forward efficiently through the process. In addition to managing the team, the Director will be expected to seek out new land deals and contribute to the land pipeline. This role involves identifying and securing land acquisition opportunities and ensuring that all transactions align with the company’s strategic goals. The Director of Land Acquisition will report directly to the VP of Land.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the land acquisition team, providing guidance and support to team members.
• Negotiate purchase agreements with landowners, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
• Work closely with the Land Acquisition Counsel on the due diligence process, including title reviews, environmental assessments, and feasibility studies.
• Collaborate with the Land Acquisition Counsel to address any legal issues that arise.
• Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, brokers, and other stakeholders.
• Prepare and present acquisition proposals and reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Monitor and manage the progress of land acquisition projects to ensure timely completion.
• Continuously source and bring new land deals to the table, maintaining a robust pipeline of potential acquisitions.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
• 5+years of experience in Land Acquisition and leadership
• Demonstrated leadership experience, capable of inspiring and guiding teams to achieve ambitious goals.
• Proven track record of strategic decision-making, managing cross-functional teams, and fostering an environment of collaboration and accountability.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to adapt to evolving priorities and drive continuous improvement.
• Experience in mentoring and developing talent, as well as managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
